The Thai Department of Labor Protection and Welfare (DLPW) has been successful in enlisting eight business associations in adopting Good Labor Practices (GLP) to bring the Thai labor practice up to global standards. These eight associations include the Thai Frozen Food Association, the Thai Tuna Industry Association, the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association and the Thai Shrimp Association.
Kingfisher recognizes that without addressing these issues head-on, we cannot sustain our business in future. We joined the Seafood Task Force which consists of major international retailers, brand owners and NGOs, and worked with Thai Government agencies on issues regarding IUU and human rights.
As part of our commitment to responsible sourcing, we started auditing our local suppliers where we source our raw materials. This is part of our increasing monitoring of local suppliers on a broad range of issues, including workers welfare.
