On Jan 8, 2019, Karmeuu Vella, EU Commissioner for Environment, Fisheries and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, assured all in a press conference , with Thai delegates standing  by his side, that there has been a lot of hard , honest work in Thailand  behind its delisting from the yellow-card status in IUU.  Indeed, Thailand has transformed its fishery industry, albeit more work is needed to protect workers and fishermen right, in the past 4 years and has emerged as a global citizen and committed partner in this matter.
