On 20 June 2019 at 09.00 hrs. (Washington, D.C. time), the United States Department of State released the 2019 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, ranking Thailand at Tier 2 for the second consecutive year.

Thailand remaining in Tier 2 reflects the United States’ due recognition of the Royal Thai Government’s strong commitment to and continued progress in preventing and suppressing all forms of human trafficking during the past year.  In 2018, Thailand has made significant progress in many areas, including law enforcement and prosecution of wrongdoers, victim protection and care, and prevention of human trafficking.  Furthermore, Thailand has placed high importance on enhancing cooperation and partnership with all stakeholders and stands ready to work closely with all concerned parties, both domestic and international, including the United States and relevant international organizations, to ensure greater progress and more concrete outcomes in combatting human trafficking.

The fight against human-trafficking has long been pursued as our national agenda. The Royal Thai Government is fully committed and will continue to improve the relevant legal frameworks, strive to close existing gaps, as well as enhance operational efficiency, with the ultimate goal of eradicating all forms of human trafficking and safeguarding human dignity in accordance with the principles of human rights and humanitarianism to which Thailand has always adhered.
