Good Labour Practices (GLP) guidelines in the Thailand seafood industry

 

The EU and the EU-funded ILO Ship to Shore Rights Project have jointly developed, in conjunction with the Thai Frozen Foods Association (TFFA) and the Thai Tuna Industry Association (TTIA), the GLP Guidelines, for both factory management and industry associations. They have committed to build effective labour standards programmes and improve working conditions in the seafood industry. They include updated GLP Workplace Standards, principles for industry associations GLP programmes, and new tools for factory managers and industry association leaders. The GLP Workplace Standards are organized into following categories: No forced labour and recruitment; No child labour; freedom of association; collective bargaining and workplace cooperation; No discrimination (equal employment opportunity and treatment) in wages, compensation, and working time; occupational safety, health, welfare and community engagement.
