CSR, coined in the 1950s, described how companies should behave within the communities they serve, not just focusing on profitability and growth. The concepts have evolved in time to include sustainability in natural resources, human rights, and protecting the environments we are in.
Fossil fuels usage is one of the leading culprits of global warming with greenhouse gases as pollutants. They have disrupted the Earth's delicate balance, resulting in climate changes and destruction of the environments. Hurricanes, floods and droughts around the world are vivid proofs our mother Earth is complaining.
Solar energy is the most viable non- fossil fuel. It is renewable and has come a long way from being out of reach for many to being viably used, both in house holds and in industries. Thailand has good geographic advantage for solar energy with radiation levels high throughout the year, especially during the summer months in April and May.
Thailand's total energy production in 2019 was 393 billion KWH, in which 63 billion KWH (ie 16 %), was renewable energy, mainly Solar. Thailand has estimated that its solar usage is expected to account for more than half of the total energy produced in 2037, according to a report in Jan 2022. Solar panels are highly visible on roof tops of commercial buildings and factories and are constant reminders of a Company's environmental commitment. Screens displayed on solar performance at Company's lobbies also remind visitors of such commitment.
The Companies in the Kingfisher Group started installing solar panels on their roof tops in 2019 and finished in 2021 The solar system started to generate electricity by clusters as they were done and the installation was finished by the end of 2021. The entire system started to work from 2022. The details are as follows.

Kingfisher Solar Energy Production and CO2 Reduction:
Remark: Solar energy generated in year 2023 is more than year 2022 because of solar for SEAPAC Cold Storage operated in June 2022.
* Conversion factor from KWH solar to CO2 reduction for Thailand. Each country is different depending on its geographic location.
